            SPOTLIGHT EVENTS ENTERTAINMENT INC

 

Spotlight Events of Sarasota County is an organization, incorporated in 2007 with over 30 years of combined experience, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our region through the promotion, support, and implementation of high quality community-wide events and programs in Sarasota. Our vision is to fill Sarasota and surrounding towns with the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that make a place come alive. We want Sarasota County to be a place where the experience alone brings people out to meet friends, revel in the atmosphere, sense the excitement, appreciate the surroundings and feel the community spirit that emanates from the crowd during an event.

 

Our mission is to improve the quality of life through cultural, family-oriented events that bring the community together in celebration.

 

We are dedicated to keeping our State alive and thriving and to providing community celebrations that truly enhance the quality of life for our residents, employees, friends, visitors, families and the community as a whole.

 

Spotlight Events came about with the help of local organizations which have been around for a long time and have the respect of area residents; such as the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, The All Children’s Hospital, Big Brother Big Sister, YMCA, Fallen Warriors Foundation. We are incorporated.

 

We have a broad-based Board of Directors and a committed volunteer force that keep us going.

A 3rd generation circus performer began his entertainment experience as a young boy traveling the world with his mother, Dolores, a booking agent.  Throughout the years of his world-wide travels, he developed his own skills as a performer and in following his family’s footsteps, learned the skill of finding and booking talent.  Growing up surrounded by talented performers & celebrities, he always found an interest in thrill seeking.

 

At the age of 10, Lazarus was considered one of the youngest and most awarded high wire walkers in the world, performing at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, NV.

 

By the age of 16, he broke two records in the Guinness Book of World Records.  The first record for being the youngest high wire walker in the world, scaling 275ft high and over 300ft across at the Mickey Towers in Los Angeles.  The second record was for his bravery, jumping rope on a 50ft high wire with no safety net.

 

Having reached the age of 18, he was a guest on The Dave Letterman Show for the many awards he had received.  Surviving the age of 22, he signed a contract to work on Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus.  And at 24, was chosen to film a 13 week television series for Bravo & Cirque Du Soleil.   

 

Realizing he’s spent 20 years risking his life as a performer, he decided to stay grounded.  In 2000, Lazarus expanded on his performance background and began booking live entertainment and promoting local bands.  Having been surrounded by talented performers and booking agents alike, Lazarus honed his skills and began his own profession as a Entertainment manager.
